Davin has led a typical writer's life. His working CV includes stints as a postman, dustman, dishwasher, tractor driver, labourer, insurance salesman, shop assistant, fruit picker, office cleaner, warehouse worker, farmhand, golf caddy, private investigator, technical translator, fork-lift truck operator, software engineer and graphic designer.
His short fiction has appeared in over ninety print magazines and anthologies worldwide, as well as selected online markets.
Davin is the winner of the Historical Novel Society's Solander Short Fiction Award (2010), and was twice-nominated for the Pushcart Prize. His work has also received multiple Honourable Mentions in The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror, edited by Ellen Datlow, Kelly Link and Gavin J. Grant.
